Claude Animates Your Videos.
Remotion is an open-source video tool Claude can drive. Tell it what you want - animated captions, title cards, motion graphics on top of your clip - and it builds, previews, and renders the whole thing on your laptop.

Animate Your Videos with Claude and Remotion
Install Node.js (the only prerequisite)
Remotion runs on Node, so this is the one thing you need on your machine before anything else. Download the LTS version from nodejs.org - it's a normal installer, takes about a minute. Mac users with Homebrew can run `brew install node` instead.
Download Node.js LTS→Open Claude Code and tell it to install Remotion
Claude Code handles the install, the project scaffold, and the studio setup in one go. Paste the prompt below into a fresh Claude Code session in an empty folder. Yes, that's a terminal. No, you don't need to learn it; that's what my team is for.
Install Remotion in this folder, scaffold a Hello World project, and start the studio so I can preview compositions.Feed Claude your video using its absolute path
Important: you cannot drag-and-drop video files into Claude Code. Claude can only read what it can find on disk, so you have to give it the absolute path. On Mac, right-click the file in Finder, hold Option, and click "Copy as Pathname". On Windows, Shift+right-click and pick "Copy as path". Then paste it into your prompt like this:
Drop /Users/you/Movies/clip.mp4 into the public folder of my Remotion project and wire it up as the base layer of the main composition.Tell Claude what to animate on top of it
This is where it gets fun. Just describe what you want, in plain English. Animated title cards, springy lower thirds, word-by-word captions that pulse with the audio, motion graphics on the beat - Claude handles all of it. Be specific about brand: colour, font, timing, vibe. The more detail, the closer the first take gets.
Add a springy title card that says "Day 47 in Bali" for the first 2 seconds, then word-by-word captions in lime green for the rest of the clip.Open the Remotion Studio Claude set up for you
Claude opens a local studio in your browser at localhost:3000 - a full editing environment with a preview panel, timeline scrubber, and a props inspector. Watch your clip play back with the animations overlaid in real time.
Iterate by prompting, not by scrubbing
If something's off, just say it: "the title card is too slow, tighten it to 1 second", "caption colour should be cream not lime", "add a beat-synced flash on the drop". Claude updates the composition and the studio re-renders instantly.
Render to MP4 on your laptop
When you're happy, ask Claude to render. It outputs a clean MP4 locally - no cloud queue, no watermark, no per-render fee. Render as many takes as your machine can handle.
Render the final composition as a 1080p MP4 and put it on my desktop. What's inside
